Hollyoaks star Jamelia reflects on her soap opera appearance 20 years ago.

holly star Jamelia has reflected on her first appearance on the soap opera, which took place 20 years ago.

The actress will return to the soap opera reprising her role as Sharon Bailey, which she first took on as a guest in 2021.

speaking to inner soapthe singer recalled a cameo she made in 2003 while anticipating her return as Sharon.

holly it was a show I watched when I was younger,” he said. “A little known fact is that I appeared in [the show] in 2003. I performed at the student union bar, so it’s all come full circle.

“I feel like I am a winner of the competition. I’m such a fan of the show that I still can’t believe it’s here,” she added. “The seed was planted in the Black To Front episode. my family is ecstatic [that I’m joining the show]. I am very excited to see the episodes.”

Sharon’s next few scenes will see her visit her daughter Zoe and her mother Pearl for a special Mother’s Day episode, and Jamelia praised the work of co-stars Garcia Brown and Dawn Hope before hinting at her character developments.

“It felt like a family reunion — Dawn gives the best hugs,” she said. “We keep saying how happy we are to be there, and Garcia is just lovely. I myself have four daughters and they all call Garcia his sister.

“When Sharon arrives, Pearl is delighted to meet her,” she continued. “But Zoe and Sharon aren’t as close as they should be because Sharon chose to pursue her career intensely. [She] He puts a lot of effort into repairing their relationship.”

Following the announcement of her return to the Channel 4 soap earlier this month, Jamelia said she was “having the best time on set” and was “happy to be back”.

holly airs first on All 4, with new episodes dropping every weekday morning. The program is broadcast from Monday to Friday at 6:30 pm on Channel 4 and at 7 pm on E4.
