good burger fans have always had an appetite for a sequel, and it’s finally happening.
A cult classic, the original sitcom arrived in 1997 with Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell starring as high school students Dexter and Ed, who work at the fast food restaurant of the same name.
Stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon yesterday (March 17), the duo proudly announced that they will be reprising their beloved characters for good burger 2 – set to shoot this May with plans to air it on Paramount+ later in the year.

“I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service at Good Burger was born!” Thompson shared in a statement (via Variety).
“To be a part of something that so many generations of people have come to love has made me proud and now to be back where it all began to work on the sequel is surreal!
“I love acting with my brother Kel and I can’t wait to show fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”
Mitchell added: “Ed is one of those timeless characters who has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s such a beautiful blessing to still be able to do so after all these years.
“It’s amazing to go back and continue the stories of Dex, Ed and Good Burger for both the people who grew up watching them and their children.”

Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert from the original return to write, while brooklyn nine nine‘s Phil Traill steps in as director.
An official tagline for the sequel reads, “Dexter Reed is down on his luck after another of his inventions fails. Ed welcomes Dex to Good Burger with open arms and gives him back his old job.
With a new team working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to recover, but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger in jeopardy once again.
